Botswana Speaks Parliamentary Initiative Gets an A*
One of our partner projects, the Botswana Speaks Parliamentary Initiative gets a thumbs up and a grand star from the European Commission’s ePractice.eu editing team.
Although supported by the Commission, this community runs its own editorial line. Through a large think-tank base of real life case studies submitted by members from across Europe, ePractice.eu gives access to the exchange of good practice experiences.
So, it is with great honor the Botswana Speaks Parliamentary Initiative accepts the Editor’s Choice Award for 2012!
Sharing views and policy concerns with their elected representatives will be made easier for the citizens of four constituencies of Botswana. The Botswana Speaks Parliamentary Initiative, which is an eDemocracy project, will enable the MPs of these four constituencies to gather citizens’ views and input on issues and policy discussed in the Parliament via text messages and via a web platform.
The ICT-based Parliamentary Communication System (PCS) aims at making it practicable for governments to improve parliamentary efficiency, increase policy responsiveness and expand good governance through the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). Moreover, it will enable the MPs to better fulfill their function as policy makers and representatives in the broader objective of achieving wider societal development goals.
