4th Amendment Wear

In our last post we wrote about Iceland’s forward-thinking initiative to gather citizens’ input through social media to draft their next constitution.

A brief moment of reflection followed, as I mediated on constitutional principles, on their underpinnings, asking myself whether we should be allowed to alter and update them.

At some point during the process, I recalled stumbling upon a hilarious, bold and profound initiative, the 4Th Amendment Wear, a collection of metallic ink-printed clothes and underwear to protest and remind citizens of their constitutional rights. It's amongst the most intelligent and brilliant branding I have ever seen.

So although constitutions can indeed seem rather outdated, they do serve the purpose to safeguard those fundamental rights and freedoms which are universal and unalienable, and which will remain unaltered, hopefully, for a very long time.

The 4th Amendment: "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."
