ICT for Identity and e-Citizen Privacy

Electronic identity is increasingly assuming a central place in the lives of citizens in Europe and around the world. Whilst promising to bring huge benefits to the achievement of large-scale provision of eServices, eIdentity continues to present challenges and concerns regarding citizens’ privacy and security in online transactions.

The focus of the ICT for Identity and eCitizen Privacy Unit is to promote the benefits of eIdentity in a regulatory environment that fully respects and protects citizens’ rights to data protection, privacy and security of online transactions. Gov2u works in alliance with governments, the private sector, the legal community and civil society towards the achievement of this goal.
