Gov2u presents SPOCS: Facilitating the lives of citizens and business in Europe’s Digital Single Market!

The state of cross border e-Service delivery presently offers limited opportunities to citizens in the EU. This can be a major drawback in the EU's single market, as businesses seeking to expand into other countries often struggle to comply with all the regulations they need to follow.

Simple Procedures Online for Cross-Border Service, aka SPOCS, to which Gov2u is a proud partner, is a project designed to overcome these obstacles. Initiated by the EU, the large scale pilot project is running since May 2009.

With SPOCS doing business in other EU countries is getting simpler!

SPOCS provides the points of single contact, set up in every country, with electronic procedures where businesses can complete all of the administrative steps needed to create and or expand their business at home and in other countries. Applying for licenses or permits becomes simpler, quicker and more secure.

SPOCS demonstrates how issues related to business mobility and starting a new business in another Member State can be addressed and solved with the help of innovative ICT services and become simpler, quicker and more secure. We believe that Simple effective innovation is possible to develop the Digital Single Market and facilitate lives of citizens and business in the Union!

To give industry and business representatives some first hand insight into the technology developed, SPOCS invites them to a meeting on Novermber 16th, at the Institute of Logistics and Warehousing, in Poznan, Poland.

Since the previous contact with Industry and Business representatives, SPOCS has been very active in taking its specifications from paper to the real world of live pilots. July 2011 saw the launch of the first services using SPOCS that will support travel agents, real estate agents and master builders in establishing a presence and doing business in other EU countries.

Businesses are invited to test-drive the new services, which will initially span five Member States. Austria, Germany, Greece, Italy and Poland will all demonstrate their services in the SPOCS pilot.

The second wave of the pilots will extend the eServices to Lithuania, Portugal and Slovenia with the additional professions of architect and tourist entertainment companies. This is undergoing final preparations in order to go live this autumn.

The purpose of the SPOCS Industry and Business representatives’ meeting is to:

  • Present how interoperability is put into practice
  • Build a strong working relationship with the Industry and Business representatives so as to further explore the added value of the SPOCS project in developing fully functional electronic Points of Single Contact for businesses
  • Discuss the frequently asked questions regarding both the technical solutions and the pilots themselves
  • Explore the possibilities to sustain SPOCS solutions
