Simple effective innovation will facilitate the lives of citizens and businesses in the Union!
Five EU co-funded projects (PEPPOL, SPOCS, STORK, eCODEX, epSOS) will demonstrate how innovative ICT services can contribute to citizen and business mobility and invite industry and business representatives to their booth at the CeBIT conference (6-10 March, Hannover, Germany).
eGovernment should not stop at national borders, and these five projects prove that European cross border eGovernment is achievable, making the lives of citizens and businesses easier, while being more efficient and cost effective than existing public services.
As Neelie Kroes Vice-President of the European Commission responsible for the Digital Agenda, stated during the 6th Ministerial eGovernment Conference in Poznan: “We have already done the hard part of building systems. Member States have invested considerably in doing so, and it is starting to pay off. Now we need to take the next step, of connecting those systems. Then we can grow them: into other areas, into other countries. If we do that, our governments can make the most out of their investment; our people can connect to more opportunity, our economies can benefit. We can tear down digital barriers and deliver services seamlessly across borders. So that each and every one of us, wherever we come from and wherever we want to go to, can enjoy the opportunities of the Single Market.”
Starting a new business, studying, receiving medical care, participating in tenders or solving legal issues in another EU Member State can be simplified with the help of innovative ICT services. Solutions are built on top of available national/regional infrastructures and allow smooth exchange and sharing of data to easily access the services.
SPOCS demonstrates how issues related to business mobility and starting a new business, such as applying for licenses or permits in another Member State, can be addressed and solved with the help of innovative ICT solutions- for a simpler, quicker and more secure eGovernment.
We believe thats simple effective innovation is possible to develop the Digital Single Market and to facilitate lives of citizens and businesses in the Union!

Investigate the possibilities to sustain SPOCS solutions which are built on top of available national/regional infrastructures.
Businesses seeking to expand into other countries often struggle to comply with all the regulations they need to follow. Applying for licenses and permits and completing other administrative procedures in another country can be very complicated. SPOCS is a large- scale pilot project launched by the European Commission in May 2009 that aims to overcome these obstacles.
Participants: Austria, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Sweden and United Kingdom.
